I Wish To Be Smart....

Last night we went to "Reading Under the Stars" at Katlyn's school. It was actually really fun and a good family night. Everyone brought blankets, books and flashlights and the PTO served hot dogs and root beer. We ate, read just one book with our flashlight and played until we were too cold to stay any longer. On the way home, Carter was sitting in the back looking at the stars and said, "Mom, do you want to know what I wished for?" "What did you wish for Carter?" "I wished that I would be smart." "You are already smart." "What does NOI spell?" "Nothing." "See, I'm not smart mom. I told you." "What does NO spell Carter?" "NO." "See, you can spell. You just have to keep practicing." "Ya, I guess."

I cannot tell you how funny this conversation was! It doesn't sound that funny when I write it down, but the way that Carter asked me what NOI spelled, knowing it didn't spell anything, and then in his a sassy tone saying, "see I told you" It was just super cute! Mike and I were having a heck of a time keeping a straight face. This little man is one of my favorite people in the whole world! I hope that he will know that every day that he is here with me! I LOVE YOU Carterbug!

AnD yOu'Re GoNe AgAiN****

We had a Saturday filled with swimming and fun with family. A full 24 hours of family togetherness. I had my hopes that the weekend would go by without your absence, but it wasn't to be. A phone call thirty minutes ago and you are gone again. I will miss you Mike. Miss you helping the kids get ready for church for now we will surely be late. Miss you taking a rest after church with me. Miss you teasing us all because that's what you do on Sundays. I will miss you. I will try not to groan about it. Come home soon! I LOVE YOU!

Gage, honey if you weren't so cute I would give you away!

I have to write these few little things down that Gage has done in the last few days before I forget. I want him to know that he was a pain in the neck at the age of 4!

So, my sister and I do a little preschool day for her daughter and Gage and it was her turn so I went to pick Gage up after I dropped Carter off at school. Gavin was asleep in his carseat and I was driving the truck. She kind of lives on a hill so I drove up shifted the truck into neutral, put the emergency brake on, and went in to get Gage. Amy and I got to talking and Gage decides to get in the truck so I am finishing what I'm saying to Amy and turning to walk to the truck and we hear the sound of the emergency brake popping! My heart fell to my toes as I watched my truck start rolling down the hill. I take off running as fast as I can trying to catch it thinking I can get Gage out, but Gavin was strapped in on the OTHER side of the truck. I yanked the door open and Gage looked at me with his big eyes and just kept saying "I'm sorry, I'm sorry!" I was able to push the emergency brake back down with my hand just before the truck ran in to a few LARGE cedar trees. I have never been so mad at Gage before, but I didn't know whether to spank him or hug him! I was shaking so bad my legs were bouncing off the ground. I gave him a HUGE lecture in a rather loud voice, and he says "Mom where is the money drawer? I thought it was the money drawer!" Gage was banned from getting in the truck until I put him there that day.

Fast forward to yesterday. We went to Tales for Tots and then to the park. When it was time to come home I put Gavin in the truck and then I was telling everyone goodbye. Gage gets in the front seat and quickly locks the door. I had already put my purse in with the keys so I tell him to unlock them. He just grabs the handle and opens it, which makes the very loud alarm go off! I think o.k. fine I'll just get the keys and push the button. That would have been nice if I could find the damn things! I looked everywhere! In the meantime everyone at the park is staring at me thinking, "Lady what the heck?! Turn that thing off!" Three checks through the truck my purse, and the diaper bag later and I finally find them! Gage just looks at me and says "oops!"

I'm seriously thinking of just banning him from cars all together!

Alpine for a day or two or three...

Even though we don't camp when we go to Alpine, we like to pretend we are when it's time to eat, but NEVER when it's time to sleep or take a bath. We Papa's like beds & baths thank you. Mike didn't get to go with us because he had to work. (He is really liking his electrical apprenticeship and the guys he's working with, but he has had to work a lot more overtime, which is good and bad. When you take a paycut you need the money but we sure miss him. Last night he was home for two hours and got called back in. He got back around 1:30 and left again at 4 to go back! We will sure be glad when he's done!) On the hunt for some good wood for the fire.
All smiles for these two.
Gage had some issues with his shoes and socks and ended up with one shoe off and one shoe on.
The Cooks. They are amazing. Buiscuits and gravy, potatoes and corn all in the dutch oven and homemade ice cream for dessert. It's HEAVENLY.....
Love this picture.
Gavin LOVED every minute of it. He would NOT take naps because he was afraid he might miss something. This is Bailey, the best old dog ever!
Taking a ride with Papa & the boys.
All kinds of new things to find and explore....
Cute little butt just waitin' to get in the bath.
Wishing he could reach the keys.
Relaxing for a weekend at Nana & Papa's is never done without watching Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Home Alone.
Nana & Papa let us go along with them to their ward chicken fry. Fabulous chicken and food and company. Gavin even helped Papa vacuum.

Carter paused for a moment during his intense game of hide and seek with the kids to let me snap a picture.
Katlyn and Gage were also kind enough to let me get a shot of them too.
This is Gavers favorite place to hang out. Nana has a bunch of bird feeders out on the deck and he just loves to stand there and watch all the hummingbirds come get a sip.

My little Lobos

Friday is Lobo pride day and all the kids in our little fam got into the spirit!

Welcome to the tooth club!

Carter officially joined the tooth club on Monday night. We have been working this tooth for about a week and we finally came out on top! He was soooo excited to have the Tooth Fairy come, which she did and left fairy dust and 4 whole quarters for him. He also got to put a sticker on the Tooth Club chart at school! Love this kid! He's amazing!

Can't I Just Freeze Him in Time?

Gavin is now almost 9 months old and I really do wish that I could just freeze him in time! He is so much fun and such a good boy and he's doing the most amazing things! I am just trying to cherish these moments because I know that we will never have an almost 9 month old again. He is a blast! We found him all the way up the stairs last night and he can climb in and out of almost anything, including his bumbo. We got about a month or two of use out of that thing before he figured out how to escape! He's EVERYWHERE and we LOVE it! The video shows him waving, which he just got the hang of yesterday! LOVE ya Gavers!
